Bronchiectasis and NTM in Canada
Understanding bronchiectasis and NTM, together
BXConnect is a Canadian information resource for people living with non-CF bronchiectasis or NTM lung infection, their families, and the clinicians who care for them. We explain these conditions in plain language and share what Canadian researchers are learning.
If you live in Canada and have bronchiectasis or NTM, you may be able to take part in research, including the CanBE-NTM research registry. Ask your care team whether your clinic is taking part.
About BXConnect
Bronchiectasis and NTM, explained in plain language
BXConnect is an information resource led by the University of Calgary for people living with non-CF bronchiectasis or NTM lung infection, their families and clinicians. We explain what these conditions are, what living with them involves, and what research is under way in Canada, including the CanBE-NTM research registry.
Research Areas
Non-CF Bronchiectasis
A chronic lung condition characterized by permanently damaged and widened airways, leading to mucus buildup and recurrent infections.
What is bronchiectasis?Nontuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM)
Infections caused by environmental bacteria that commonly affect individuals with bronchiectasis.
Living with NTMAbout the research registry
The CanBE-NTM research registry
CanBE-NTM, the Canadian Bronchiectasis and NTM Research Registry, is a research-focused registry led by the University of Calgary. With consent, participating clinics across Canada collect health information from adults living with non-CF bronchiectasis or NTM lung infection, so clinicians and researchers can study how these conditions change over time.
The registry is separate from this website, and access is restricted to approved clinicians and research staff. If you are a patient and would like to take part, ask your care team whether your clinic is involved.
